On 10th November 2018 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Eldon Community Centre, Eldon Parish Council will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. There will music, live singing, food samples, readings of letters, poetry and diaries from World War One and the display of the “There But Not There” silhouettes from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. The General Data Protection Regulations 2018 come into force on 25th May 2018 and will govern how organisations (including Parish Councils) process personal data about individuals. You can see relevant documentation, including our General Privacy Notice, on the Council documents webpages.
The External Audit of Eldon Parish Council’s Annual Return was completed on 30th July 2017. The audited annual return and issues arising report can now be inspected on the Council Documents section of our website.
The Eldon Parish Council Accounts for 2016-2017 are available for public inspection from 5th June until 14th July 2017 on request. Please see the notice in the Council Documents part of the website. ELDON VILLAGE FUN DAY
Eldon Village Fun Day will take place on Saturday, 6th July 2019 between 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. at Eldon Community Centre.
The Fun Day which is run jointly between the Parish Council and Eldon Community Partnership will follow the same format as in previous years. There will be fairground rides for children in the Community Centre car park; a face-painter; and a children’s entertainer, magician and balloon modeller.
There will be stalls selling home-baked cakes and pies in the Centre; as well as a tombola and refreshments will also be available.
Please come along with your children and have a great day!!!!!!!
Best of all, the fairground rides, entertainer and face-painter are all FREE!
The Garden Competition will be judged on 21st July 2019. Judging is from the roadside, but if we need to gain access to your garden (i.e. through your house) and you want to participate, please let us know. The competition only applies to gardens in Eldon Parish. There are prizes for the winners!
Elections for Town and Parish Councils were held on 4th May 2017. All of the existing five Councillors for Eldon were re-elected unopposed and will serve in office for a further four years.
We have all been concerned about the accident record at Eldon crossroads. The County Council has developed a scheme for improvements at the junction and approaches which will include new signage, road markings, and a flashing speed warning sign for vehicles travelling down Eldon Bank (which the local County Councillors and Parish Council have contributed towards).
Some limited works began in early September (due to slippage) and we hope the remainder will be carried out in the coming weeks. Here is a plan showing the works proposed:

Eldon Community Centre will be hosting multi-sports training provided by Shildon AFC Community Fund during the School holidays in 2015. The sessions for children aged 4 years upwards will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each week during the holidays.
Eldon Village Fete was held on 18th July 2015. The Parish Council funded a bouncy castle and slide, fairground rides and a face-painter for children in the village, together with a balloon modeller and fire eater aptly named “Charlie Burns”. The weather was kind and there was a good turnout on the day. The community centre provided refreshments and there was a cake stall, tombola and table top sales.
